Yoga Nidra

“Yoga Nidra is an awakening of the
Deep, Deep Stillness of what is
asleep within you.”

– Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra

What is Yoga Nidra?

Also known as, “yogic sleep” is both a meditative technique and a meditative state. Is a powerful guided meditation where the practitioner learns to relax to a point of almost being asleep but remaining completely awake and aware. It aims to induce complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It’s highly restorative for the person practicing it.

Unlike meditation, which you can do in complete silence and sitting down, Yoga Nidra needs an auditive cue and you need to be lying down in order to be completed. The goal of this is to focus on the voice guiding you into a deeper state of consciousness. It can last from 20 minutes to an hour.

Benefits of Yoga Nidra?

  • Anyone can do it
  • It improves dopamine levels
  • Reduces stress
  • Improve thought patterns
  • Enhance cognitive performance
  • Better sleep
  • Improved physical health
  • Decrease anxiety
  • Reduce PTSD
  • Heighten awareness and focus

What are the risks?

There are absolutely no risks to practicing Yoga Nidra. Unlike yoga, in which you need to make a certain degree of physical activity, Yoga Nidra requires you to just lay flat on your back and let yourself be guided into a completely relaxed state.
